Below are samples of my photography from the 2025-2026 school year. I focused on sports but I explored the news side of photojournalism as well.
Sports Action
Samantha Swan is thrown out at second base in a game against Pima Community College. I wanted to catch the entire scene and made sure to get a wide shot.
Chase Dafoe sets up at the faceoff circle ready for the puck to drop. I wanted to frame the shot a bit tighter here, I didn't want his whole body in frame.
Sierra Bergen battles for the ball in a soccer game against BYU. I did not have a long enough lens to get the shot as tight as I wanted but I do like the contrast in the lighting between the players on the field and the dark sky.

Portraits
Molly Miller gives an interview at Bounce for the Women's Final Four. I wanted a very shallow depth of field for this shot to make sure Miller stood out against the busy background.
Sister Lynn Winsor stands with some of the many trophies won by Xavier athletics. I got some of the trophies in focus along with Sister Lynn but everything else was not quite in focus.
Emma Schraner smiles while working as a bartender. I was going for a shallow depth of field to make sure most of the focus was on Schraner.

Koa Peat cheers during the Territorial Cup game. I shot this from the concourse and I wanted to make sure the focus was on Peat. My ideal shot would have had a more shallow depth of field.
Ryan Blaney stands on top of his car in celebration after his win at Phoenix Raceway. I wanted a wide shot to get all of the celebrations.
A festival attendee holds a glass of wine at one of the booths at the Willcox Wine Country Spring Festival. I wanted the focus mostly on the wine, not necessarily the person holding it.
